HISTORY: First registered on 21st May 1993, the first owner owned it through to March 2000, when it changed hands via Johnson Brothers, Volvo Dealership, to a Malcolm Allen who, having kept it for a further 5 years, then part-exchanged it, subsequently being sold and serviced by Taunton Motor Company, now Vertu, to the last owner who lived in Minehead. Just 3 owners in its lifetime, the last one, who owned the car for nearly 20 years, was accustomed to carrying out routine maintenance himself and ordering parts and arranging garages to do the more extensive jobs, as required. There are numerous invoices in the service file for many items including brake back plates, brake discs and pads, various suspension bushings, brake hoses, rear shock absorbers, engine mountings, water pump, full stainless steel exhaust system (Longlife), headlamp reflector kits, timing belt kit, rear lamp units and more. All in all, this Volvo has been very well cared for over the years and, now that we have carried out our recommissioning work, it will give its new owner many years of reliable motoring. The structure, chassis and bodywork of this car is very good with no corrosion issues.
MILEAGE: A common fault with Volvo 240s is that the mileage odometer ceases to function, usually as a result of the mileage reset button being operated whilst moving. The item on this car failed around 4 years ago and we have been able to calculate the mileage since by reference to the former owner’s average mileage over the previous 16 years, so an accurate guide to say that the current total mileage would have been around 103000. The previous owner has signed a letter to confirm this and we have repaired the odometer gear, so it is now functioning correctly.
